AI fictions with Alex Shvartsman

Alex Shvartsman is the author of Kakistocracy (2023), The Middling Affliction (2022), and Eridani’s Crown (2019) fantasy novels. Over 120 of his stories have appeared in Analog, Nature, Strange Horizons, etc. He won the WSFA Small Press Award for Short Fiction and was a three-time finalist for the Canopus Award for Excellence in Interstellar Fiction.

His translations from Russian have appeared in F&SF, Clarkesworld, Tor.com, Analog, Asimov’s, etc. Alex has edited over a dozen anthologies, including the long-running Unidentified Funny Objects series.

Carissa Véliz is an Associate Professor in Philosophy at the Institute for Ethics in AI, and a Fellow at Hertford College at the University of Oxford. She works on privacy, technology, moral and political philosophy, and public policy. Véliz has published articles in media such as the Guardian, the New York Times, New Statesman, and the Independent. Her academic work has been published in The Harvard Business Review, Nature Electronics, Nature Energy, and The American Journal of Bioethics, among other journals. She is the author of Privacy Is Power (Bantam Press) and the editor of the forthcoming Oxford Handbook of Digital Ethics.

Insurance and automated cars with Matthew Channon

Matthew is a co-author of the book 'Law and Driverless Cars' to be published in 2018. Matthew is currently a Teaching Fellow in Law at the University of Southampton and a PhD Candidate in Motor Insurance Law at the University of Exeter. Matthew regularly presents internationally for the Motor Insurance Working Party at the Association Internationale De Droit des Assurances (AIDA) and won the AIDA academic prize in 2016. Matthew publishes articles regularly in the UK and internationally on Motor Insurance and Driverless Cars.
