Nadia Piet is an independent designer, researcher, organizer, and cultural producer with a focus on AI/ML, data, tech, [digital] culture and creativity. She’s the founder of AIxDESIGN [a community of practitioners & living lab for beyond-corporate AI], holds an MA in Data-Driven Design, and explores playful & purposeful tech through freelance projects and self-initiated experiments. Over the past 10 years, she’s worked as Head of Creative Technology at DEPT [a global digital agency], design researcher for emerging technologies at Bit, and across roles and continents with organizations such as Hyper Island, Pi Campus, Forbes, UN, AWWWARDS, DECODED, MOBGEN | Accenture Interactive, Mozilla, and ICO.


Doing Ethics with Marc Steen

Marc Steen works as a senior research scientist at TNO, a research and technology organization in The Netherlands. He earned MSc, PDEng and PhD degrees in Industrial Design Engineering at Delft University of Technology. He worked at Philips and KPN before joining TNO. He is an expert in Human-Centred Design, Value-Sensitive Design, Responsible Innovation, and Applied Ethics of Technology and Innovation.

Marc's first book, Ethics for people who work in tech, was published by Taylor & Francis/CRC Press in October 2022.


Value Sensitive Design with Steven Umbrello

Steven Umbrello currently serves as the Managing Director at the Institute for Ethics and Emerging Technologies. Currently, my main area of research revolves around Value Sensitive Design (VSD), its philosophical foundation as well as its potential application to emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence and Industry 4.0.


Speculative design with Phil Balagtas

Phil has been a practicing visual & interaction designer since 2001 and has experience designing across a variety of devices and platforms within non-profit, retail, advertising, and enterprise software organizations. He most recently served as an Experience Design Director at McKinsey & Company working with a variety of industries to transform and enhance their digital businesses and strategies. He is also the founder and organizer of the Design Futures Initiative which organizes the international Speculative Futures meetups and the PRIMER conference in the US and Europe. An educator and futurist, his events bring together designers and futurists from all over the world to teach and share strategies for designing for the future and the ethical challenges around emerging technologies.


Future Ethics with Cennydd Bowles

Over a sixteen-year career, Cennydd Bowles has written two popular books (Future Ethics and Undercover User Experience Design), led design at Twitter UK, and established a reputation as a global leader in digital product and UX design. As an independent consultant, he has worked with clients including the BBC, Samsung, WWF, Cisco, and Ford.

Cennydd’s focus today is the ethics of emerging technology. He has been quoted on the topic in The Guardian, Ars Technica, The Daily Telegraph, Süddeutsche Zeitung, and Forbes; his new book Future Ethics has been called ‘One of the most important books a designer could ever read.’ Cennydd has presented on the topic at Microsoft, Stanford University, Dropbox, Fitbit, Google, Hulu, Facebook, and IBM, and now consults with technology companies on ethical approaches to design and product development, drawing on innovative techniques from speculative design, futurism, and contemporary practical ethics.

Cennydd is a frequent keynote speaker at tech and design conferences worldwide, and runs internal training workshops for clients including The Financial Times, Orange, Farfetch, and Capital One. He has written for a range of print and web publications, been a columnist for A List Apart, and edited the book Front-end Style Guides.
